For whom?
Anyone who wants to learn how to tell stories for and to the public is welcome to follow this course. A (pre)education is not necessary, but an interest in heritage or culture is. We encourage participants from various disciplines to participate, so that we can (let) hear different stories!

Program
The need for new stories and new storytellers is great, especially for museums and other heritage institutions. How do you illuminate a story from multiple perspectives and seduce your listeners? How do you guide the viewing process and get people to share their stories with each other? Together with various partners from the heritage field, the Heritage Lab is developing an applied and active course for the modern tour guide. In this five-day course you design and execute your own tour.

You will learn the most important qualities of the guiding profession: dealing with groups, attitude, didactics and creating an experience and thus a bit of meaning. You will work independently on assignments throughout the course. You keep track of your personal development in a portfolio.

All kinds of guiding techniques and didactic skills will be discussed, with which you will practice. The emphasis is on practicing, doing, and creating and improving your own tour through feedback. Which working method suits you and which target group do you use? What do you say about the object in question? How do you get the group involved? What questions do you ask and for what purpose?
