The National Maritime Museum is finalist for the VriendenLoterij Museum Award! Will you make sure Michael didn’t get his tattoo done for nothing? Vote for it via museumprijs.nl/scheepvaartmuseum.
Traditionally, The National Maritime Museum has been the place where Amsterdam was connected with the rest of the world; ships and their crews sailed back and forth to distant destinations and returned ‘home’ to what was then called ’s Lands Zeemagazijn.
As a national museum, the Scheepvaartmuseum is anchored in Amsterdam and feels a strong sense of community involvement. We are therefore very happy that we are a home base for more and more people. For local residents and children in the neighbourhood, for our visitors, for water sports enthusiasts and their associations, for companies and their employees from the Plantage neighborhood, Oosterdok and the Port of Amsterdam, for partner organizations and of course for you!
To be a home base for even more people, we desperately need your help! If we win the VriendenLoterij Museum Award, our dream is to set up the Thuishaven-program: we would now very much like to connect those visitors who already know where to find us in the museum and on the water.
Will you help expand our home port? The public – you! – determines who wins the VriendenLoterij Museum Award and with that 100,000 euros.
Vote for the Scheepvaartmuseum before 27 November via: museumprijs.nl/scheepvaartmuseum and don’t forget to confirm your vote via the e-mail you receive.
