The Hortus is coming to you this spring

Published on Monday, March 29News

Spring is here and that is visible in the Hortus; cheerful spring flowers bloom, the first tulips appear and the magnolia is in bloom. Unfortunately, the garden has to remain closed due to the extended lockdown. However, you can get that ‘Hortus feeling’ at home with one of the online activities;

  • Online tour of spring flowering bulbs
    The guides of the Hortus will tell you about everything that is blooming now during an online spring walk through the garden; April 2, starting at 1:00 PM, book here.
  • Online tour of royal plants
    Many exotic plants were introduced to the Netherlands by members of royal houses and were given royal names, such as the Anna Paulowna tree (Paulownia tomentosa) or the Queen’s Wort (Eupatorium cannabinum). Online tour; April 23, starting at 1:00 PM, book here.
  • Theme year Home plants (from April 1)
    In the past year we spent a lot of time in our home and that resulted in a collective green impulse. Garden centers had record sales and houseplants were hardly available. That is why this year the Hortus is all about “Home Plants”. A program full of care tips, workshops and courses will soon be available on the website.
  • Shopping by appointment
    In the Hortus store you can buy plants, bulbs and seeds, but also garden tools, books, postcards and the Hortus honey. You are welcome by appointment on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM (reservation via info@dehortus.nl).
