Finally the weather is nice and that’s a good reason to explore the neighborhood on foot again. We already have the necessary free walking routes available on our site, but did you know that our chairman Liesbeth Bijvoet of the Jewish Cultural Quarter shares her favourite places on the Iamsterdam website.
With her walking route through the heart of Mokum, she takes you in an hour past places such as Huis Pinto, Pantheon Boekhandel, the beautiful building De Uilenburhersjoel, De Mozes en Aäron curch. During lunch she will get a sandwich at Tony’s NY City Bagels, she like to visit café-restaurant de Plantage and the hidden gem Dignita Hoftuin. Of course the Dutch Holocaust Memorial of Names and the Jewish Jewish Cultural Quarter should not be missed in this route. Born and raised in Amsterdam, Bijvoet sees the great significance of Jewish culture for our city like no other.
As business director of the Jewish Cultural Quarter, which includes the Jewish Historical Museum, the Portuguese Synagogue, the Hollandsche Schouwburg and the National Holocaust Museum, she visits the Plantagebuurt every day. Here you will find the complete walking route through the heart of Mokum on the Iamsterdam website.
Do you also have favourite places in our Plantage neighbourhood or nice walking / cycling or sailing routes through it? Then share these on chainels or with our community manager Kim Hagenaar.
