ROUTE Reinwardt walks through the streets

Published on Tuesday, March 11Routes

Traditionally, the Plantagebuurt was a green district, with many plantations and a rich Jewish culture.

We still see this reflected in the current streetscape. The name ‘plantage’ has a relationship with the plantations in the colonies at the time of the VOC. In addition to its green past, the plantation houses stories from the time of the Second World War, and it has an important artistic past. Walk through the Plantage streets and experience it for yourself.

This walk was created by students of the Reinwardt Academy as part of their Cultural Heritage course.

You can find the walk here.
