And the winner is…. Martine van der Reijden
The winner of the Plantage Poetry Prize 2022 was announced in the Luther Museum on 1 October. From the three nominees, Martine van der Reijden is the lucky winner with her poem ‘present’. The theme this year was: Mirror. The nominees were: Monica Boschman with ‘Tintinnabuli’, Martine van der Reijden with ‘present’ and Maaike van Steenis with ‘Chief Seattle’. The prize is a work of art by visual artist Daniel Levi, who lives in the Plantage neighborhood.
The presentation at the Luther Museum was a pleasant, well-attended afternoon full of poetry and music, and with an interview with Tonko Grever, director of the museum.
Plantage Poetry Prize
The Plantage Poetry Prize, this time awarded for the 31st time, is an initiative of the Friends of the Plantage Association and has a national appeal. The poets who submit come from all regions of the Netherlands and Flanders. Among the winners are renowned poets. For others, winning the Plantage Poetry Prize is an impetus for a publication or an incentive to continue.

present
ontvouw de schade van de nacht mijn blik
tast een leeg canvas wacht het drieluik met penselen
eenmaal op pad na een glimp in de ovendeur
bemoederen glazen puien mijn gang buik in
en schouders recht ontwaar ik verbijsterd iets van
een bisonnek… kniel in de loop van de dag naast auto’s
in de goot schik verdwaalde haren mijn rendez-vous
na ademwaas in zakformaat valt mee het kader klein
zet neerwaartse lijnen buitenspel maar…
daarentegen verbijstert mij mijn silhouet die aan het einde
van de dag meereist in de ramen ineengedoken op de bank
tussen weilanden en wolkengrijs zit mijn vader
de laatste blik voor de nacht verdrinkt in niets ontziend tl-licht
onthult de gretige kin van moederszijde ik boen en boen
verwijder gelaten mijn gezicht
