Are you bringing a real Christmas tree into your home? Or would you rather have a tree that lasts longer than 2 weeks?
If we want to do good for nature and the environment, this decision is not always easy, it turns out. On NOS.nl and at Milieu Centraal they list the arguments for a tree, if so which one, or no tree. Be sure to read them and make your own sustainable choice.
Their tips for a more sustainable Christmas ahead:
- Buy the tree close to home, a long car journey has more impact on the environment.
- After use, plant the tree in the garden and choose a large pot and plenty of water.
- Rent or adopt a live Christmas tree and return it after the holidays.
- For an artificial Christmas tree, choose second-hand or one that will last at least 10 years.
- Hand in discarded Christmas trees to the municipal waste disposal facility.
Happy, sustainable Christmas…….
