The Art Week 2024, from 9 to 17 November 2024, offers art lovers all kinds of activities, festivities and offers, making visual art even more attractive to enjoy for over a week. There is also plenty of art to experience in the Plantagebuurt.
What do you think of the Outsider Art Gallery, at Neerlandiaplein 7. The exhibition ‘Choice for Art – artist duos in healthcare’ can be seen there until 16 November. A large group of artists visit Cordaan clients at home and work together on art and culture. Creativity, meaning, connection, development, and: not being concerned with care or illness for a while.
In the middle of the Art Week, on 15 November, the exhibition ‘That’s the Spirit‘ opens in Hotel Arena, on display until 5 January 2025. The latest works by Robert Pennekamp can be admired here. His paintings combine vibrant colours and abstract, comic-like elements.
The H’ART Museum houses the Museum of the Mind. The exhibition ‘Who cares?‘ can be seen there. Who Cares? focuses on forgotten victims and hidden heroes of the Second World War. And the care in our country during those dark years. How strong was this care? Did it succumb to the pressure or did it manage to prevent atrocities? View unique images from history in combination with art, such as from the Truth Festival by Willem van Genk, the uniquely preserved sketches by Wilhelm Werner from the Prinzhorn Collection, the impressive video installation Untitled and previously unseen moving images of the drastic evacuations at Duin en Bosch in 1942.
But art can also be found in the public space! What about the special violinist in the town hall at Waterlooplein… And there is much more to discover in the Plantagebuurt. Have fun during the National Art Week!
