In the weekend of november 5th more than 1200 art lovers went to Zoku Amsterdam and the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam hotel for the KUNSTRUIM expo, also our community manager Kim Hagenaar brought a visit.
Saturday afternoon, a drizzly rainy day, and ideal for viewing local art. Upon entering Zoku hotel, art objects on pedestals were highlighted. As you walked through, you came across all kinds of spaces in which an artist was featured and talked passionate about his or her work. For example, Kim spoke to Frederick Calmes, who had illustrations under the name “breathing of the city”, work commissioned by the Amsterdam City Archives. In addition, he had illustrated stories around the Address Bonnplein (East Amsterdam) where you could read and listen to these stories via a QR code. Beside there were porcelain jewellery, textile design, furniture, and art installations to admire.
In the second location, paintings and drawings were exhibited in addition to sculptures and striking light objects.
