KIT Live; KIT Café and two new dance and music studios

Café de TROPEN closes and KIT Café opens, next to two brand new dance and music studios in the KIT buildings.

Café De Tropen is closed. A new café, KIT Café, has now opened in Linnaeusstraat, next to the Tropenmuseum. From October 3, you can enjoy coffee and lunch every day from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in this coffee and lunch venue.
The new café is part of a major renovation of the former Tropentheater, consisting of the theater itself, two brand new dance studios and a podcast studio, together under the new name KIT Live.

Last Friday, the Kids of Amsterdam (KVA) moved into two brand new dance and music studios that KIT has set up for them. The studios are part of KIT Live: a center for local activities and events on the site of the former Tropentheater.

The KVA has existed since 2007 and was housed in the Hugo Olijfveldhuis on the Zeeburgerdijk. For years, the organization had been looking for a new location that offered more space for the growing number of students. KVA will continue guidance and music and dance lessons with young people in the KIT Live studios.

Theater and podcast studio
In addition to two dance and music studios, KIT Live includes a theater hall, a podcast studio and therefore the KIT Café. Work is still done on the renovation of the theater hall and the furnishing of the podcast studio. These are expected to open in the autumn of 2024.
