A facade garden in the Valckenierstraat has won the prize this year for the most beautiful facade garden in the Plantage-Weesperbuurt-neighborhood.
During an animated meeting in the SOOP meeting center in Nieuwe Kerkstraat on October 1, the residents of Valckenierstraat 39 and 41 were presented with the golden watering can for a facade garden that, according to the jury report, can be described as ‘romantic at its finest’.
It was the second time that the golden watering can was presented in the Plantage-Weesperbuurt. Last year the prize went to a facade garden on the corner of Plantage Muidergracht and Plantage Badlaan. Just like in 2022, initiator Michel van Wijk and the five local residents who formed the jury had nominated twelve facade gardens this year, the qualities of which were glowingly described in the jury report. All nominees received a prize and a certificate presented by local resident and former radio and TV presenter Judith Bosch.
