At CREA, students from the UvA, the HvA and the ROC will have their own place where creativity and meeting are central.
As of September, CREA, the cultural student center of the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences at Nieuwe Achtergracht 170, will become the second educational building for theater students of the PACT+ MBO courses. At the start of this school year, students will have their lessons in the theater and theater studios of CREA.
This collaboration creates a new cross-connection in the cultural (educational) field in Amsterdam. In addition, a new and unique meeting place is being created for students from various educational institutions in the city.
Equality and culture as a connecting factor
In a society that increasingly requires collaboration between different fields and backgrounds, it is important that students have the opportunity to meet and work together during their studies. With all its activities, CREA offers a safe and inspiring environment where these students and non-students can find each other, explore new ideas and develop themselves. Cultural activities are ideally suited to build bridges between students from different backgrounds. These activities promote not only creative thinking, but also empathy and understanding of different perspectives
CREA director Dennis van Galen: “In a CREA course you meet students from completely different courses as well as fellow students from all levels of society and work, and you discover new talents and skills together. And don’t forget that CREA has a popular café where you can meet during the day or have a chat after a theater performance or debate. Here you stand shoulder to shoulder at the bar ordering a drink and education or educational institution makes no difference.”
