ARTIS-Micropia temporarily closed due to ICT renovation

ARTIS-Micropia is temporarily closed from May 13 to June 10.

For almost 10 years, ARTIS-Micropia has been the only microbe museum in the world. And to prepare the museum for the future, it will undergo an IT renovation and will temporarily close its doors from May 13 to June 10. During this period, a necessary IT update will be carried out to take the museum’s technological infrastructure to the next level. In this way we strive to improve and optimize the visitor experience.

No microbes to be seen in real life for a while

The invisible world cannot be admired in real life for a while, but you will find plenty of stories and images online, and you can stay informed by following ARTIS-Micropia on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.

The ‘Laboratory technician tells’ at the neighbors

And this does not mean that there are no microbes or microbe stories to experience. The ‘Laboratory technician tells’ takes place in the ARTIS-Groote Museum from Monday to Friday. At 2 p.m., laboratory technicians will tell visitors about the food of the future and the role of microbes. Will we all soon be eating algae and fungi? Visitors to the ARTIS-Groote Museum can join us in the Oostzaal at 2 p.m. to discover more about this.

There is also a lot to experience online. Do you already know ‘the dish of the week’? And did you know that the laboratory technicians answer the most frequently asked microbe questions in short videos? And which microbes actually live in a vulture enclosure or in the ARTIS library?
