For many years now, the Hermitage Amsterdam has hosted an exhibition of the Amsterdam Museum with impressive portraits from the 17th century. Now that the Amsterdam Museum location on the Kalverstraat is being renovated, the museum has settled in the Hermitage with beautiful presentations. This summer you can see the ongoing collection exhibition ‘Panorama Amsterdam’ and the exhibitions ‘Welcome to the Noordside’, ‘Collecting the City’ and ‘Colonial stories: Work in progress’.

By the way: did you know that the Willet-Holthuysen House is also a location of the Amsterdam Museum? At the end of the 19th century, art collectors Abraham Willet and Louisa Holthuysen lived at 605 Herengracht. After Louisa’s death in 1895, she donated the house and collection to the city of Amsterdam, with the intention that it would become a museum. We can still enjoy that. There are also regular exhibitions: until the summer paintings by Maaike Schoorel, in the autumn an exhibition curated by actor/poet/collector Ramsey Nasr.
