Youth performance National Opera & Ballet

00:00:00event

During the autumn holidays with children or grandchildren? Don’t go to the playground…, but to the opera!

You can at National Opera & Ballet, where the youth opera ‘A song for the moon’ is programmed during the autumn holidays, especially for young visitors.

My first opera
‘A song for the moon’ is based on the book with the same title by Toon Tellegen, a fable about the power of music. Composer Mathilde Wantenaar adapted the story into a wonderful ‘my first opera’ for young visitors and their parents. An accessible and layered performance that does exactly what the story is about: moving through music. Important themes are also discussed, such as loneliness, identity, disappointment and friendship. It is a piece about the power of music and the possibility of connecting with each other

Based on the book by Toon Tellegen (6+)
The lonely mole decides to write a song to cheer up the moon. The grasshopper rehearses with his orchestra until they have completely mastered the song and one night they give a beautiful concert. But why does the moon look so sad afterwards…?

A song for the moon, Mathilde Wantenaar (1993), family performance at National Opera & Ballet, Studio Boekman + Tournee; performance dates October 22 to 29, 2023, tour November 5 and 12, 2023. Duration 1 hour, tickets here.
