In H’ART Museum on April 6 and 7 during the Week of the Classics
On March 15, more than 2,000 years ago, the assassination of the Roman dictator Julius Caesar took place; a conspiracy of sixty senators, who turned against the absolute power of Caesar. With the exhibition ‘Julius Caesar’, H’ART Museum invites the public to take a new look at the sometimes glorified dictator. In addition, the museum is offering the theater production The Murder of Caesar, a light-hearted adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Julius Caesar’, in April. The theater company De Theatertroep brings the play to the present, asking whether Caesar should have seen his end coming. Ticket sales have started.
The murder of Caesar
The Theater Group previously made successful festival productions during De Parade and Lowlands. The company is creating an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar especially for the H’ART Museum. The story concerns the plot of the conspirators against Caesar, the assassination and the aftermath of this event. The Theater Group creates theater without limits; averse to any division between classical and modern theater, between popular entertainment and intellectuality, between comedy and tragedy.
The Murder of Caesar, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April, H’ART Museum, Amstel 51, tickets and information soon via the website.
