Take half an hour for nature, on the last weekend of January; are you in?
On Friday 27, Saturday 28 or Sunday 29 January 2023, count the birds in your garden or on your balcony, once for half an hour. Do the birds only fly over your garden? They don’t count. Schools, petting zoos and other groups can count in advance at a time that suits them. Participating is fun and easy, and your count data will help protect the birds.
Every bird counts!
The National Garden Bird Count is the largest citizen science project in the Netherlands. Vogelbescherming Nederland organizes the count together with Sovon Vogelonderzoek Nederland. The National Garden Bird Count provides a snapshot of the numbers of birds present in Dutch gardens. We combine these with other counts. This way we see how the birds in our gardens develop, and we can better help and protect them.
