Digital stories about commemoration and resistance from all over the Netherlands
The remembrance program ‘Open Jewish Houses – Houses of Resistance’ will take place on 3 and 4 May 2021. Across the country, storytellers, residents and descendants gather in houses where Jewish fellow citizens lived and worked before, during and after World War II. Edition 2021 is a completely online produced edition, with live streams and a number of podcasts. You can find the program here. The livestream can be found here from 3 May.
Open Jewish Homes is a co-production of the Jewish Cultural Quarter and the Amsterdam 4 and 5 May committee, based on an idea by Denise Citroen. It has been organized by the JCK in collaboration with local partners since 2012 and has grown into an important and recognizable commemoration project throughout the Netherlands. Telling the penetrating and special stories ensures that the history of persecution and resistance is not forgotten. This year, one story will be interpreted in Dutch Sign Language on both days.
