The house that brings 50+ from the neighborhood together for meeting, courses and art & culture has been around for 25 years. That anniversary is of course celebrated:

  • Benjamin Herman saxophone, Hein Heijnen piano,
  • senior pop choir Lust for Life, Maya and Cees Koldijk
  • and Arabic music
  • Walk-in from 13:00. Entrance is free.
  • Register preferably before 1 September via: info@soop.amsterdam and state your name and zip code

The SOOP is a joint initiative of local residents and opened its doors in 1998. It has grown into a meeting place for people over 50 with a varied and high-quality range of accessible, versatile and meaningful leisure activities.

The SOOP is the house where the meeting is central. A pleasant place for socializing and having fun with each other. Where neighbors can drop by for coffee with the newspaper, have a chat or meet in the summer garden with a drink and/or a snack.

In addition, the SOOP also organizes cultural and artistic events. The SOOP is there to learn something new or to develop hidden talents in an educational and creative environment, but also to share your knowledge and skills.

The SOOP is open every day and organizes courses, clubs, lectures, exhibitions and concerts, and offers space for new initiatives. All employees are volunteers. Entrance is free. A small contribution is requested for courses. Check the website for more information.
