Until January 14, 2024, the Resistance Museum Amsterdam is showing the exhibition ‘Cas Oorthuys, Resistance Photographer’. On the occasion of this exhibition and in honor of this iconic photographer, the museum is organizing a photo competition for everyone with a passion for photography. The winning photos will be included in the exhibition and published in Het Parool. Photos can be submitted until 15 October 2023.
Cas Oorthuys made no less than half a million shots during his lifetime and contributed to at least two hundred photo books. He always tells a story with his photo series. From sneaky photos during the Second World War, to workers in factories and resurrected cities during the reconstruction. He also travels often, from Europe to Africa. And these stories show, throughout his entire oeuvre, the involvement with his fellow man.
Photo Contest
The Resistance Museum calls on everyone with a passion for photography to pick up the camera and get to work with the themes ‘Resistance’ and ‘Community’ that are important to Oorthuys. The organization also asks to use at least one of the typical ‘Cas Oorthuys style elements’: black and white, square format or ‘Hipshot’. Each participant can submit one photo until October 15, 2023.
In addition to inclusion in the exhibition and publication in Het Parool, the best photographers also win a high-quality print of their photo on aluminium. More information about participation, prizes, conditions and the jury can be found on the website of the Resistance Museum. This also includes all photos already submitted.
