The successful production Oscar will return to the Royal Theater Carré in 2024.
The performance, created in 2022 in honor of Carré’s 135th anniversary, is a tribute to Oscar Carré, with dance, theater, circus and live music. Experience Oscar in Carré’s famous arena, where he celebrated triumphs with his circus and horse shows.
Homage to Oscar Carré
Oscar is a performance in the spirit of Carré that traditionally features all theater genres, from revue and musical to concerts and cabaret. His visionary view in combination with his colorful and dramatic life is a source of inspiration for choreographer Ed Wubbe. Blaudzun’s cinematic, emotional songs are the ideal score for the Netherlands’ oldest dance company, which gave its very first theater performances in Carré in 1946.
Farewell to Ed Wubbe
With the entire dance ensemble of Scapino, eight circus artists from Codarts Circus, Blaudzun and his five-piece band merge many disciplines in Oscar. In 2022, all eighteen performances in Carré’s arena were sold out. The audience gave Oscar a 9.1 rating. With this new series, Wubbe officially says goodbye to Scapino after 30 years.
Ed Wubbe: “My dream to create a concert, dance and circus performance as an ode to Oscar Carré became reality. Blaudzun’s music was very inspiring and has become an inseparable part of the performance. And what a treat to now re-release Oscar in Carré and thus conclude 30 years of Scapino.”
Blaudzun
Blaudzun is a singer, producer and songwriter and has left his mark on the Dutch pop landscape over the past decade with his cinematically arranged, emotionally sung songs. Blaudzun: “In the performance, dancers, circus artists and the music and band members merge. Every day I am reminded by visitors of the impact the show had on them. And to be honest, the whole thing made as much of an impression on the makers as it did on the audience. What a wonderful prospect to be able to play Oscar again in 2024.”
