During the Open Garden Days in June you can browse around in someone else’s garden again
The theme of the Open Garden Days this year is the private canal garden. On 17, 18 and 19 June 2022, the most beautiful canal gardens in Amsterdam will be open for you. They are actually the city’s best kept secrets; because they are located behind closed housing blocks and almost all of them were once laid out as a private garden at a house. About 25 canal gardens – of houses or belonging to an institution – are open to the public.
Gardens around De Plantage
You just have to leave De Plantage for the starting points of the route and some of the most beautiful gardens; you cross the Amstel and walk to two of the four starting points in a few minutes. At Museum Willet-Holthuysen (Herengracht 605, part of the Amsterdam Museum) you can enjoy the beautifully landscaped backyard, and you can also buy a ticket for the entire route. Would you like to view all the rooms of Huis Willet-Holthuysen in addition to the gardens? On the day itself you can view the entire house for a 50% discount.
You can also walk a little further, to Museum Van Loon (Keizersgracht 672); the garden is not to be missed and you can also buy a route ticket there
