Spring scavenger hunt for children during the spring break and theme tour Nitrogen and plants

Especially for children
Are you also coming to the Hortus during the spring break? The bees are flying around and the first spring flowers appear: it’s time for a spring treasure hunt! Children between the ages of 4 and 14 can look for spring flowers in different colors and draw them in their own spring guide. (And adults are welcome too, of course).

  • The spring guide can be picked up free of charge at the porter until March 5th.
  • You get the colored pencils for free!

Nitrogen and plants-tour
Nitrogen is indispensable for plants: they need it for the production of proteins and other nutrients and for photosynthesis. Nitrogen is naturally present in the soil and in the soil. But how can plants live in low-nitrogen soils such as sandy or loess soils? Some plants have found great solutions for this. For example, certain species work together with bacteria. An excess of nitrogen is not good either; it makes some plants grow faster, such as nettles, and others become weak and limp. With the tour Nitrogen and plants we show beautiful examples of plants and the ecosystems in which they grow.
Themed tour, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 March, 1 pm; participation € 5.00 excluding entrance. To register? Buy your ticket here
