Neighbors Day is coming! On Sunday 25 September, Neighbors Day at the Oostelijke Eilanden will take place on Wittenburgerplein, organized by the Eastern Islands Neighborhood Committee in collaboration with the Marineterrein, Stadsdeel Centrum, Dock, the Oranje Fonds and Sciandri.
Brunch with new neighbors
The day starts at 10.30 am at Oostenburg-Noord in the Buurtkamer of BOB Helpt, Oostenburger middenstraat 214, with coffee/tea and a sweet, and a walk over the Islands. Then we will have a special brunch at the Marineterrein at 12.00 o’clock, together with our new neighbours, the refugees. Under the musical accompaniment of Jos Zandvliet and his Accu Fanfare we leave the Marineterrein to settle down on the Wittenburgerplein.
Singing, dancing and puppet show
From 13.30 the local residents show their talents in the field of music, song and dance. Our youngsters take part in a basketball show, they also rap. For the little ones there is a whirligig, face painting, puppet show and henna tattoo. There are Old Dutch games, manicure and pedicure for young and old. Poems are also recited and there is a bike ride through the district. There are various workshops, stalls for local entrepreneurs and authorities, and there is a flea market and various music performances. All through the use of the talent in our neighborhood and the contribution of our neighborhood volunteers. The day will be concluded with a World Kitchen.
Until 8.30 pm, the activities mainly take place on the square between the Oosterkerk and community center De Witte Boei. The Czaar Peter Festival is also held on this day.
