In the weekend of April 17 and 18, 2021, the National Bee Census will be held again. During this national bee survey, Naturalis, Natuur & Milieu, IVN Natuureducatie and LandschappenNL ask everyone to count bees in their own garden, park or schoolyard.
The more we know about bees, the better we can help them. And that is desperately needed, because half of the 358 wild bee species in the Netherlands are endangered. This also has major consequences for us, because 80% of edible crops depend on pollination.
Researchers use the results of the National Bee Census to see where the various bee species occur in the Netherlands and whether these numbers are increasing or decreasing.
You can participate from Saturday April 17 at 9 a.m. to Sunday April 18 at 5 p.m.
