The national manifestation Day of Architecture will take place on 18, 19 and 20 June 2021. This year the theme is “Architecture/Climate”. It will be about the dual charge of climate change and architectural climate – about the physical climate as a design task and about the question of whether/how designers play a role in spatial-social tasks. On and around these days, various architecture initiatives organize walks, guided tours, bike rides and other activities.
In Amsterdam, Arcam at Oosterdok organizes various activities, such as DIY cycling routes and walks, audio tours and exhibitions in the gallery on the Prins Hendrikkade. For example, there is the Day of the Young Designer (on June 18) and the Day of Architecture on the Subjective Atlas of Amsterdam. With this project (a series of meetings, an Atlas and an Architecture Guide), Arcam wants to take the assessment of quality in architecture out of the exclusive domain of professionals.
By collecting personal stories in which buildings form the backdrop, we extend the existing assessment criteria with other values. To this end, Arcam works together with local organizations that contribute to the diversity of experiences, perspectives, backgrounds and perceptions of the city.
