Kriterion Previously Unreleased are films that have never been shown in Dutch film theaters before! Be the first to get there!

In her feature debut 78 Days, Emilija Gašić creates a moving coming-of-age story brimming with life. The film is set in the first half of 1999, when NATO began attacking Serbia, during the war in Kosovo. Gašić focuses on a particular time and place to chart the limits of the children’s carefree existence. The story interweaves the perspectives of the three sisters, each at a different point on the road to adulthood.

After their father is drafted during the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia, three sisters begin a Hi8 video diary in their rural home. They film each other putting on makeup, picking cherries, playing games, arguing and helping their mother cook. This fragile, intimate world may be their only refuge from the realities of bombings, sirens and war.
