Road construction Czaar Peterstraat

Published on Monday, June 30News

As of June 16, roadwork has begun on the Czaar Peterstraat as part of the redesign of Amsterdam’s inner ring road (Binnenring). Liander and Waternet will first replace underground cables and pipes. Until September, the municipality will continue with street and sidewalk reconstruction, which will affect traffic and accessibility.

🔄 Accessibility:

  • Cars and bicycles can only travel in one direction through the street.
  • Bicycle detours are set up via Panamalaan and Cruquiuskade. Local traffic can use Conradstraat or Blankenstraat.
  • Pedestrians can use the sidewalk on the even-numbered side of the street, with footbridges and mats along shops and residences.
  • From July 21, the tram stop at Eerste Leeghwaterstraat (toward Geuzenveld) will be closed. The stop at Eerste Coehoornstraat remains open.

🏘️ Access to homes & shops:
All homes and shops will remain accessible via designated walking routes. Access will be maintained during the works.

🌳 Trees:
Some trees will be removed at night in June/July. These will be replaced with new elms in accordance with the city’s tree policy.

🗓️ What’s next?

  • Work will continue through September, with full redesign expected by summer 2026.
  • In autumn 2025, tram tracks will be renewed. During the winter of 2025–2026, trams will not operate, but local car traffic will remain possible via side streets.
  • A community meeting about the next phases will take place in September.
