Review: Hidden Gem walk through the Plantage

Published on Wednesday, April 15News

What a special afternoon we had during the first edition of the “Hidden Plantage Gems” walk on April 8! As promised, the Plantage neighborhood turned out to be full of surprises that you would normally walk right past.

We started at the impressive KIT building, where we not only admired the café, theatre and marble hall, but also got a look inside the Maxima Hall. It was a great reminder of just how much is happening behind that iconic façade.

After that, our neighborhood enthusiasts received a warm welcome at RKM Offices. Alongside the story of the building’s rich history, it was an extra treat to visit the attic – a place you would not normally see, which made it feel even more special.

At CREA, we were given a look behind the scenes of the theatre and music spaces, offering a glimpse into the creative energy that is present there every day. It showed just how versatile this place is – for makers, students and also local residents who now know they can sign up for a wide range of courses.

We ended the walk at Zoku Amsterdam, where the green rooftop terrace was once again a lovely surprise. The perfect place to chat, relax and end the afternoon with a drink together.

What truly made this walk special were the personal stories shared by the people at each location. It gave participants access not only to beautiful spaces, but also to the stories behind them.
