Travel back in time to the Netherlands during the war and experience history through the eyes of four children.
At @verzetsmuseumamsterdam, Verzetsmuseum Junior shows what life was like during the Second World War. You follow the true stories of Eva, Jan, Nelly and Henk – brought to life through original objects, photographs, animations, audio fragments and interactive games.
Eva is Jewish. Jan’s parents are involved in the resistance. Nelly is a member of the youth movement of the Dutch Nazi party. Henk grows up in an ordinary family. Their personal stories make this intense period of Dutch history accessible and relatable for young visitors.
At the entrance, children receive an activity booklet to guide them through the exhibition. Climb into the cockpit of an airplane to explore stories from the Dutch East Indies, Suriname and the Dutch Caribbean, play interactive games about propaganda, secret resistance messages and the choices people faced during wartime – and reflect on what war means today.
