There’s plenty to do at the Rembrandt House Museum this autumn break. Children can try their hand at etching, experiment with drawing and paint, explore the museum with Rembrandt’s dog Kwast, and discover how Rembrandt made his paints and etchings.
Make your own etching like Rembrandt
During the Etching at Rembrandt’s home workshop, you can create your own version of a Rembrandt etching using the drypoint technique. Then use a large printing press to make two real prints, which you can take home with you. The workshop is suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over.

Explore the museum with Rembrandt’s dog Kwast
During the free multimedia tour, children go on a treasure hunt through the house. Together with Kwast, Rembrandt’s mischievous dog, they help Rembrandt create his biggest painting ever. There’s even a little gift waiting at the end. For children aged 4 and 5, there is a separate treasure hunt in Dutch.

Discover how Rembrandt worked
During the daily paint or etching demonstrations, you’ll see how Rembrandt made his paints and how he created his etchings. During the autumn break, visitors can also grind and mix their own paint on a grinding stone and use it to create something on canvas. Everyone gets a small print to take home too.

Experiment yourself
In the exhibition The Art of Experimentation, you can try out different types of paper and drawing materials yourself. Just like Rembrandt and the other artists: experiment, see what happens and, most importantly, get creative!
