On Weesperstraat, you’ll find Zoku: a hotel and meeting place where guests, local residents and other Amsterdammers can stay, work, eat and relax.
Who are you and what do you do?
Zoku has been based on Weesperstraat since 2016. We provide a home base for people staying in Amsterdam for a short or extended period. Our 133 fully equipped Lofts include a kitchen and dining table, allowing guests to live and work comfortably.
Our Social Spaces, Greenhouse and several rooftop terraces overlooking Amsterdam are located on the sixth floor. Hotel guests, local residents and other visitors can come here to work, meet, eat, drink or attend events.
What makes your work special or unique?
Zoku brings accommodation, work and relaxation together under one roof. Our Lofts are specifically designed for people staying in the city for longer periods who need more than a traditional hotel room.
At the same time, our shared spaces offer plenty of opportunities to meet other people. Guests can work, eat, relax or take part in an activity. This combination of a private space and shared facilities is what makes Zoku special.
Why did you join the De Plantage Neighbourhood Network?
We feel closely involved with the neighbourhood and enjoy being in touch with other organisations, businesses and residents in De Plantage. Through the network, we can get to know one another better, exchange ideas and explore opportunities to work together.
We also want people to know that Zoku is not only for international hotel guests. Local residents, employees and other Amsterdammers are very welcome to work, eat, meet up or organise an event here.
What kinds of collaborations are you open to?
We are open to collaborating with organisations and businesses in the neighbourhood, for example on events, meetings and other gatherings. We are also happy to contribute ideas to sustainability initiatives and projects that help make the area a pleasant and liveable place.
We would also like to connect with other organisations that offer spaces for meetings and events. Together, we can showcase the many special venues in De Plantage and explore how we can support one another.
What would you like to contribute to the neighbourhood?
We want to be an accessible and welcoming place where local residents and employees can work, eat, relax and meet up with friends, family or colleagues.
As a B Corp, we also consider our social and environmental impact very important. We are therefore pleased to contribute to sustainable initiatives and partnerships within the neighbourhood.
What should people who love the neighbourhood know about you?
You do not need to be staying at Zoku to use our spaces on the sixth floor. Local residents are welcome to work here, have something to eat or drink, meet up with others or enjoy the view across the city.

What is your personal connection to the neighbourhood?
Zoku has been based on Weesperstraat since 2016. From this location, we feel connected to both De Plantage and Amsterdam-Oost. Every day, we welcome international guests, Amsterdammers and people who live or work nearby.
For us, the neighbourhood is therefore more than simply the place where Zoku is located. We want to play an active role in it and contribute to collaboration between residents, businesses and organisations.
What is your favourite place in De Plantage?
ARTIS Square is one of the places that reflects what we value about De Plantage. It is a green and lively spot where residents, visitors and families come together, and where you can sit and relax in the middle of the city.
