There’s plenty to discover this May holiday at ARTIS – from meadow birds to microbes, and even an elephant expedition.
Go on an egg expedition and explore a cargo bike filled with real eggs. Can you match each egg to the right animal? On the Hollandse Polder, you can go birdwatching and help protect nests. For young explorers, there’s also a special elephant expedition: follow the trail, crack the elephant code and uncover surprising facts (ages 6+).
At ARTIS-Groote Museum, discover how everything is connected. Join a family game and don’t miss Close to Tanja – your last chance to explore the story of Amsterdam’s most famous hippo.
There’s also something new outdoors: the renewed Kerbert terrace, where lemurs and red ruffed lemurs now live in a green habitat inspired by Madagascar.
For curious minds, head to ARTIS-Micropia for the Micro Mission and discover how microbes play a crucial role in life on Earth.
And good news: the ARTIS Aquarium is set to reopen soon. After years of restoration, ARTIS is working towards reopening on June 13. A public crowdfunding campaign is helping to complete the final phase – a great opportunity to support this iconic place.
