American myths with a twist: Boom Chicago x H’ART Museum

Published on Tuesday, March 31News

What happens when art and comedy come together? At H’ART Museum, discover a unique collaboration with Boom Chicago, surrounding the exhibitions American Myth & Memory: David Levinthal Photographs and Radical Histories: Chicano Prints.

Photographer David Levinthal explores how iconic American images and myths are shaped – from the Wild West to Barbie. Inspired by the toys of his childhood, he creates carefully staged miniature scenes, examining how these seemingly innocent objects can influence our early understanding of power, heroism and identity. His work reveals how the images we grow up with continue to shape the way we see the world.

As of mid april the collaboration with Boom Chicago will add an extra, unexpected layer: American comedians bring a fresh and humorous perspective to Levinthal’s work through a series of short videos.

Radical Histories: Chicano Prints is also now on view. This exhibition highlights that there is not just one single narrative, but many different perspectives – addressing themes of identity, borders and inequality in American society.

Together, the exhibitions offer a layered and timely reflection on a society in motion.
