This winter, there is plenty to experience at Wereldmuseum Amsterdam: from a free light installation during the Amsterdam Light Festival to Mandarin guided tours, creative Christmas holiday activities and impressive exhibitions.
Free Amsterdam Light Festival at the museum – ‘Knotted’
From 28 November to 18 January, the interactive light installation Knotted by artist Raven Kwok can be experienced in the central hall every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening from 7.00 to 10.00 pm. Visitors influence the glowing patterns with their movements. Admission is free; the rest of the museum is closed in the evening.
Free Mandarin guided tours – exhibition ‘Made in China’
On the first Sunday of every month, free guided tours in Mandarin Chinese are offered in the exhibition Made in China, exploring China’s rich making culture.

Christmas holidays: workshops & family activities (6+)
During the Christmas holidays the museum is open daily, except on 25 December 2025 and 1 January 2026.
Daily programme includes:
• Straw star workshop (12.00–4.00 pm)
• LEGO® printmaking – create your future world inspired by the work of Ekow Nimako (12.00–4.00 pm)
• Guided tour + creative activity Made in China (1.30–2.00 pm)
• Storytime in Raad van de Raaf (ages 4–6, 10.30–11.00 am)
All activities are free with a museum ticket (subject to availability).
