A concert almost every day in Splendor

There’s a lot of music in the Plantage neighborhood. Perhaps a lesser-known place where exciting musical adventures unfold is Splendor. It’s in a unique location and features unique singers and instrumentalists who program concerts.

Almost every day you can attend a special concert at Splendor. Splendor is a club for all kinds of music, conceived and founded by 50 top musicians and their audiences. A musical laboratory for surprising encounters. We’d like to recommend two concerts in early March! And be sure to check the calendar for the full program.

Thursday, March 5 – 99% NL
Solace in Eurovision-free times: baritone Mattijs van de Woerd presents an evening entirely dedicated to the Better Dutch Song. Featuring compositions by Dutch masters René Samson, Robert Nasveld, and Rodney Sharman (a Canadian, but with lyrics by Gerard Reve) and work by Splendor composers Martin Fondse, Maarten Ornstein, and Bart de Vrees (world premiere). Oh, and Harry Bannink. Sound poetry from our own soil!

Saturday, March 7 – for International Women’s Day
A theatrical ode to the struggle, strength, and polyphony of women throughout the centuries. On Saturday, March 7, “En Avant Mesdames” will be performed by the outstanding French soprano Éléonore Lemaire and the versatile pianist Frédéric Lagarde, conceived and directed by Michel Giès. In a revue-like format—with song, dance, and spoken word—a variety of female characters are explored. The tone is light, sharp, and sometimes comical, without escaping the seriousness of the subject.
