Almost there!! On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the new ARTIS Aquarium will officially open it’s doors to the public. After an extensive five-year restoration, one of the world’s oldest aquariums is ready for a new future.
Within the centuries-old walls of this national monument, visitors can discover the vital importance of water for all life – from dogfish sharks to pistol shrimp, from coral reefs to Amsterdam’s canals.
The Aquarium takes young and old on a journey through saltwater and freshwater life, oceans, rivers, mangroves and deep seas. Along the way, there is plenty to see and do, from interactive exhibits to a behind-the-scenes look.
Will you come and visit soon? Those who dive into the new ARTIS Aquarium will never look at water – or themselves – the same way again.
From Saturday, June 13, the Aquarium will be open to the public daily.
