Urbis Pluralis by Federico Campanale at Hotel Arena

00:00:00event

Discover the fascinating world of urban spaces through the lens of Federico Campanale in his impressive exhibition Urbis Pluralis, at Hotel Arena.

With thousands of photographs taken between 2013 and 2024, Campanale captures the plurality and complexity of urban environments in a way that goes beyond what is visible to the naked eye. The exhibition invites you to explore the layered urban space through his photographs, in which natural elements such as time and erosion are mixed with human notions such as memory and emotional response.

Campanale’s photographs are taken entirely in situ and contain no digital editing or manipulation. This gives the works an authentic character, in which the essence of the urban environment is equivalent to Campanale’s own perception of it.

Federico Campanale (1973, France) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam and works wherever his subjects take him around the world. He combines art with his background in human geography to explore the perception of space and our relationship to the environment. Campanale’s work has been shown worldwide at various film festivals and exhibitions, where he interweaves both conceptual and documentary approaches in his photo and film projects.
