It’s wonderful to see our members complement one another. Combining different art forms sparks new ideas and brings fresh energy! Splendor and Museum Rembrandthuis joined forces, resulting in a special concert series.
Painting and music already came together in Jodenbreestraat, where Rembrandt lived. Carillons rang out from church towers, organists gave public concerts and violin makers crafted their instruments. Music inspired painters, who in turn immortalised musicians in their work.
On Sunday 15 and 29 November, Splendor and Museum Rembrandthuis bring this exchange to life again. Inside the museum, musicians perform music Rembrandt might have heard alongside new music inspired by the artworks. The theme of the exhibition Experimenteerdrift offers an invitation to experiment that the musicians are eager to embrace.
