New exhibition opened in Wereldmuseum Amsterdam!

Voices from West Asia and North Africa

Poetry plays a major role in societies in West Asia and North Africa. Across social classes, national borders and languages, poems are known and recited by heart by millions of people. In the new exhibition Poetry of the People, influential poems from these regions are put in the spotlight. The exhibition shows how poetry can influence people’s lives on both an individual and collective level.

Poetry of the People can be seen from February 14 to August 24, 2025, Wereldmuseum Amsterdam, Linnaeusstraat 2.
