Around July 1st, the Plantagebuurt reflects on the abolition of slavery during Keti Koti – literally: “broken chains.” In and around our neighborhood, various events will take place that offer space for remembrance, dialogue, and connection.

A special afternoon centered around the theme “Civic Courage versus Silence.” Featuring rituals, songs by the choir Fri Yeye, a shared meal, and an open dialogue table.
Stay afterward for informal chats at Café Plancius (first drink is on the house).

Afterward, you can join the colorful Bigi Spikri procession to Oosterpark for the national commemoration.
