From 19 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, the Rembrandt House Museum will present the exhibition Experimentation.
The exhibition brings together more than 80 works on paper, ranging from Rembrandt and other 17th-century artists to contemporary makers. They explore different techniques and materials, repeatedly approaching familiar subjects in new ways.
Discover how Rembrandt experimented with light, darkness and the world around him. See how later artists developed their own approaches to trees, lines, portraits and the colour black.
In the middle of the exhibition, you can also get creative yourself. Choose from different types of paper and drawing materials and make your own drawing, inspired by the artworks around you.
