The photo exhibition ‘Behind the scenes’ can be seen in the National Holocaust Museum until February 23.
The exhibition shows in photos the development of the National Holocaust Museum over the past three years. The more than eighty photos paint a picture of what and who is involved in creating a museum. With portraits by Coco Olakunle and reportage photography by Nienke Fonk and Iris Haverkamp Begemann.
A museum should feel natural, as if it was not made by people. Objects and words, design and perspective; everything fits together. Yet it was people who also made thousands of choices behind the scenes in this museum. From the first day of construction, the team was expanded with carpenters, architects, interior designers, exhibition builders, electricians, interns, restorers, furniture makers, photo, film and audio editors, safety experts, green advisors, cleaners, lighting designers, mount makers, fundraisers and artists. In Behind the scenes you meet some of these people.
