From 27 November 2025 to 18 January 2026, the new edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival will illuminate the city’s iconic canals once again. This fourteenth edition centres on Legacy: the traces we leave behind, both as individuals and as a society.
Twenty international artists explore this theme in their own way, creating light installations that range from monumental to intimate.
This year, there are several ways to experience the route. Enjoy one of the six new Foodwalks — from local snacks to full dinners — or join the guided Bike Tour, where a guide shares background stories and surprising insights along the way. Prefer the water? The popular boat tours are also returning.
Meanwhile, the education programme is in full swing: more than 1,600 primary school pupils across Amsterdam are creating their own light artwork, which will later be featured along the festival route.
In short: the city is getting ready for a winter filled with light.
