From 27 March to 10 May, Hotel Arena presents the exhibition Imagine Amsterdam – from Icons to Reflections. Admission is free.

Photographer Suzan Baars captures how hidden monuments, remarkable interiors and reflections in the canals transform the busy city into moments of stillness and quiet wonder. Iconic buildings become protagonists, while water turns into a mirror where everyday scenes dissolve into something almost magical.

About Suzan Baars

Suzan Baars moved to Amsterdam in the 1980s while studying at the University of Amsterdam. Long walks through the city – searching for that dream canal-side room – sparked her fascination with the hidden treasures behind façades.

She later photographed heritage sites for Monumentaal magazine and gradually shifted her focus from interiors to reflections in the water. Her work captures fleeting moments when a place becomes intimate and begins to feel like home.
